Logistics companies involved in the movement, storage, and flow of high-value goods, have been directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As an integral part of the value chain, both within and across international borders, logistics companies facilitate trade & commerce and help businesses get their products to customers.
Buyers have, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, adapted to buying products online, setting a new trend that is seen to have accelerated fairly quickly. Hence, logistics companies that were offering eCommerce logistics services, like BVC had been doing for the precious cargo industry, witnessed growth during pre-pandemic times, and have seen an uptick in shipment volumes on the B2C side. After weathering the pandemic storm, businesses have begun to bounce back and perform well, making up for the lost time.
As exhibitions have started to retake their physical form, the industry has recently started experiencing growth on the B2B side as well, which is the major chunk of the precious cargo industry’s business volume. BVC Logistics, being the pioneer in the Exhibition Logistics space with its unparalleled ExhibiSHIP service, was the Official Logistics Partner for the IIJS Premiere 2021 organized by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). IIJS Premiere 2021, one of Asia’s leading Gem & Jewellery trade exhibitions was held in Bangalore from 15th to 19th September 2021. The event witnessed about 300 international buyers, 1000s of domestic retailers/buyers visiting about 1300 exhibitors and 2500 booths. BVC Logistics handled a very significant volume of shipments into and out of this show, including overnight vaulting at the venue, very successfully.
It is a well-known fact that in India, the IIJS event has been the largest event of the Indian Gems & Jewellery industry and this year’s event holds great significance as it has become the harbinger of business growth.
Rajesh Neelakanta, Executive Director & CEO, BVC Logistics said, “The gems and jewellery industry has bounced back post the 1st lockdown with a rise in exports and now the stage is set for the rebound of the domestic gems & jewellery sector. We are all set to manage more such upcoming events and ensure best-in-class logistics services as well as solutions to our esteemed customers. We also take this opportunity to wish our Indian Gems & Jewellery industry all the very best for successful business operations.”
